This home at Currarong sits on a block that runs down to the water, and the whole plan is arranged so the living areas open straight out to it.

The house is a white weatherboard build with gabled roof forms and a broad covered verandah across the water side. A white timber balustrade and a wide flight of timber steps lead down to the lawn, and plantation shutters and exposed white trusses in the gable ends carry the same language around the building.

Inside, the ceilings are raked and lined in white boards, with ceiling fans and highlight windows above the openings. Built-in white joinery with open shelving frames the television, and a black rattan pendant hangs over a round timber dining table.

The kitchen keeps the white shaker cabinetry but lifts the contrast with a heavily veined black and white stone benchtop and a full stone splashback. A wide servery window connects the bench on the verandah straight through to the living room, so the two work as one space when it is open.

A second, smaller kitchen sits behind it, finished in deep teal shaker cabinetry with white uppers, a white benchtop and a handmade-look white tiled splashback.

The outlook is what the house is really about. Wide sliding doors open the living area onto the covered deck, and from there the view runs across the water to the sandy bank and bushland on the far side.

The bathroom is kept simple, with large-format tiles, a white shaker vanity under a marble-look top, a built-in bath and a walk-in shower behind glass.
