This two-storey home at Currarong is planned around lifting the main living up to the top floor, where the outlook over the rooftops to the beach opens right up.

From the street it is two clean white volumes stacked on each other, each with a deep flat eave running across it and large picture windows beneath. A timber pivot entry door and a timber-lined threshold break up the white, the garage sits under, and an off-form concrete retaining wall carries the house number in black. Coastal grasses and succulents are planted into the bank in front.

Inside the palette stays light throughout. Large-format tiles run across the floors, and a staircase with timber treads, white risers and a stainless steel rod balustrade ties the two levels together, with a second living space at the foot of it.

In the living area a long linear fireplace is set into the wall beneath the television, with wide sliding doors alongside. A freestanding wood heater stands against full-height glass with firewood stacked underneath, and the beach sits just past the glazing.

The kitchen is handleless white cabinetry with a stone-topped island and timber-seated stools, left open to the stair void so the two levels stay connected.

A bedroom picks up extra light from a band of highlight windows above the main window, and the bathroom is finished in large-format stone-look tiles, with a wall-hung timber vanity, a vessel basin and a freestanding bath.

The terrace runs along the front behind tinted glass balustrades, tiled to match the floors inside, and the view carries out over the neighbouring roofs to the water.
